Academic Objectives

Our students are equipped with skills, knowledge and values to make them confident, intelligent and smart to face the challenges of the world and emerge as winners wherever they reach in the future. They are also trained to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens. They approach learning as an integrated endeavor. They imbibe the qualities of reading, crisis management, teamwork, connecting to real life and nature, compassion and leadership through the council and various clubs in school.

Curriculum

The school follows the Samacheer system of education.

In addition to Samacheer, Ravilla KRA Vidhyashram always provided 3 language advantage including

Tamil, English, Hindi, French, Telugu, and Sanskrit to choose from.

We, at Ravilla, always had a good mix of local talents and teachers from other cities and states to give our students an exposure to a learning environment to adapt to anywhere.

Post-Pandemic Scenario

The COVID-19 situation has to be in mind to plan for these children who have mostly led an isolated life only with their primary caregivers which may have caused a lot of separation anxiety that needs to be dealt with.

Social-emotional learning would be our primary focus. We need to make up for last year in isolation with socially relevant rules and behavior, play together, communicate, and share.

We will begin the day with free play and circle time and develop a sense of belonging which will be based on the scientific theory of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

What do we mean by best practices from world-renowned teaching methodologies?

To keep the child engaged in learning we use the blend which can be understood as below.

We use the oldest Maria Montessori method to engage the students to understand the independent “I can do it myself” stage. The Montessori resources with self-directed activities with hands-on learning that includes collaborative play learning of order, developing social skills, language, and sensorial play for awareness.

From the Reggio Emilia approach to explore the learning environment as a second teacher. To use open-ended materials both natural and recycled for discovery, to learn social responsibility.

Adopting the new age, Bank Street child-centered program, the focus is on the diversity of curriculum with active development and educational opportunities. In areas to develop the cognitive, emotional, physical and social growth.

The driving principle is that children can become lifelong learners by interacting with the environment. We include different places by encompassing field trips, dramatic play, doing puzzles and role play. Teachers use child-centered play to steer learning.

The development of the frontal lobes is of primary importance at this stage to develop planning and perception. As a stimulant, memory games and various brain gym exercises are included.

To develop the physical domain, fine and gross motor exercises, dance and dramatics including yoga, balanced beams, sandpit and water play will be featured in their daily activities.

Is the school following any international research programs?

We follow the synthetic phonics of Jolly Phonics as their phonic program to help in reading and the well-researched XSEED curriculum as a part of their academic program.

Jolly Phonics

Jolly Phonics is a world-leading English literacy method that teaches children how to read and write using phonics. Phonics is the teaching of the sounds that letters make, rather than the names of letters that are taught in the alphabet, because it is the sounds that are useful for reading and writing, not the names.
